ORANGE COUNTY, CA. -- (National Distribution) April 25th, 2008.

O'Connell Racing (OConnellRacing.com), a southern California based Grand-Am Rolex Series and NASCAR road racing team announced the conclusion of the team's double duty effort in Mexico City.  As predicted, the entire team was active in the Rolex race as well as the NASCAR race.  Kevin Roush and GAS Motorsports team members handled most of the details of operations for the Rolex Series race while the balance of the team was focused on the inaugural Nationwide Series race.

In the Grand Am Rolex Series race driver Kevin Roush qualified the Porsche 997 11th on the grid.  Drivers O'Connell and Roush finished the race with a top 10 after a wrong call on the driver change pit stop brought the car into the pits before Grand Am officials had given clearance for GT cars to pit and a high speed understeer problem that plagued the car all weekend.  Kevin Roush commented, " We were down on top speed on the straights in addition to a push through turns 7 and 8 leading onto the three quarter mile straight.  The mix of the two combined for a long afternoon."

In the NASCAR Nationwide series race Kevin O'Connell qualified the car 34th of 43 entries and ran as high as 23rd before being spun into the turn 8 wall by the #99.  O'Connell stated, " There were many off road incidents in the NASCAR sessions. Aside from being interrupted on our qualifying lap by a spinning car where I think we left a second on the table, having our race end early with the contact with the #99 was disappointing.  On a positive note, we know we can compete in this series and I have confidence that our pit stops will get better as we get the right guys in the right positions beginning in Montreal."
