ORANGE COUNTY, CA. OCTOBER 20, 2013 — O’Connell Racing (OCR), a professional motorsports company based in Southern California announced today that driver Kevin O’Connell will compete in the SVRA Vintage Racing Championships at the Circuit of the Americas located in Austin, Texas in a NASCAR Southwest Tour Car prepared by Jackson Racing of Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond, California.

The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) is the oldest and largest of the vintage racing organizations in the United States. It was founded in 1981 by Ford Heacock III following the success of the Kendall Vintage Grand Prix first held in 1976 as part of the annual 12 Hours of Sebring endurance race. From that beginning, with an initial membership of approximately 25 drivers and supporters, SVRA has become a premier vintage racing organization with over 1,200 members.

SVRA races take on the aura of a rolling art show featuring classic MGs, Triumphs, BMWs, Allards, Jaguars, and Lotuses as well as well as contemporary Camaros, Audis, Porsches, Corvettes and various NASCAR race cars. SVRA’s competitors are men and women from variety of backgrounds including professional racers, mechanics, race instructors, doctors, lawyers, corporate and financial service executives. The organization adheres to a philosophy that encourages the restoration, preservation and racing of historically significant automobiles that are configured as closely as possible to their original design and construction.

The SVRA philosophy is to encourage the restoration, preservation and racing of historically significant race cars configured as close as possible to their original design and construction, with allowances for safety modifications.

About Shania Kids Can:
Shania Kids Can is a program designed for kids at primary school level who are having personal problems at home. As a result these children often have difficulties functioning at their full potential in the school environment either socially, behaviorally, academically or all three. Children with personal life challenges might come to school with low self-esteem, depressed, tired or hungry – not ideal for taking in the joy of learning, the security of community and the pleasure of friendship. The Shania Kids Can Foundation educates, inspires and empowers children in their communities to achieve their full potential by increasing their chances of equality and opportunities for success. By helping less fortunate children reach their personal best in their daily lives at primary school age; this may likely prevent the less positive alternative that too many children of lost potential face later in life …of becoming statistics that burden society rather than contributing to it.
