Kevin O’connell & Carlos Contreras Podium Finish At Sebring In Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series

O’Connell Wins Pro-Am, Co-Drivers Scott Monroe & Lance Fenton 2nd in Pro – Am

HOLLYWOOD, CA., March 17th, 2014 — O’Connell Racing (OConnellRacing.com), a professional motorsports company based in Southern California announced today that drivers Kevin O’Connell and Carlos Contreras reached the podium with a third place overall finishing position in their inaugural race at Sebring this weekend in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series led by Rick Ware Racing and Lamborghini of Houston.

Rick Ware Racing fielded a two car effort with Texas drivers Scott Monroe and Lance Fenton in the #15 Lamborghini of Toronto teamed with O’Connell and Contreras in the Lamborghini of Houston – Voli Light Vodka #9 race car.

Rick Ware stated, “The possibility came together with these new entries into the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series very close to the Sebring race so we had to race with limited testing data for the crew chiefs and a newly formed team. Fortunately, the collective experience of all four of our drivers paid off and we had a successful weekend and created some momentum heading to the upcoming west coast race at Laguna Seca”.

Starting at the back the grid due to a seat belt malfunction in qualifying, Contreras moved aggressively through the field to bring the car to P-6 within the first half of the race. After a planned driver change and a late race caution that led to a green white checker, O’Connell was able to complete the effort started by Contreras. O’Connell was first in class with the co-drivers taking third overall for the race.

O’Connell commented, “We were really learning the car and the track lap by lap and with a new car, new team and real time race strategy to sort out we are content with a podium finish, but all of our drivers believe there is much more to achieve.”
